The UIC EAA (Engineering Alumni Association), notes the passing of one of its’ founding members, William J. Hass.

Bill was an author, leading turnaround consultant, entrepreneur and adviser to management and CEO of TeamWork Technologies of Northbrook, Illinois. He had over 25 years of experience including turnaround, restructuring, dramatic change and distress consulting with over 100 business units and their leaders. He was Past Chairman of the Turnaround Management Association and past President of the Chicago Chapter of TMA.  A former consulting partner at Ernst & Young, Bill was a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) and a VP and director of the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals.

Bill's industry experience was broad based and included retailers ,consumer and industrial manufacturers. Bill led a variety of educational seminars and conducted research in the areas of stock price trends, valuation, and business failure prevention. He served as a community leader for the Illinois CPA Society's Center for Corporate Financial Leadership. He was also managing director of Board Resources.

Bill earned his MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Engineering Systems Analysis and Operations Research with Highest Honors, the “Bell Award” from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Graduating Chicago's Lane Tech High-school, gave him a solid basis for his further education. 

Bill was a former director of the University of Illinois Alumni Association and a former Chairman of the UIC College of Engineering Industrial Advisory Board. Bill was a founding member of the UIC Engineering Alumni Association (EAA). Bill was also a founding member and officer of Sigma Phi Omega Fraternity of UIC which was later chartered as the Sigma Phi Chapter of Zeta Psi Fraternity of North America.

Bill was an inventor with US and Foreign Patents which enabled his start-up entrepreneur career , developing and marketing "BoneFone", the first open-ears plus bone-conduction stereo personal listening system. He created it to safely enjoy music plus all the sensations of active outdoor experiences. 

An avid skier , Bill frequented Breckenridge and many popular Rocky Mountain areas and enjoyed a few challenging helicopter drops into the deep powder of the Caribou's. His summer passion was water skiing on his favorite Wisconsin lakes, especially with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his Wife Debby and Children: Veronica & Greg Goodrich (Giselle and Isla);  Charlie & Kristen (Elizabeth and Emma); Andrew & Lindsie (Mila). 

The family encourages lasting remembrances be directed to a memorial fund in Bill's name, honoring his founding and the ongoing mission of the University of Illinois,  Engineering Alumni Association (EAA).
